# Inspections

The Inspections Settings page allows you to create and manage vehicle inspection templates for standardized quality checks and compliance with state regulations. This guide provides an overview of how to set up and utilize these inspections effectively.

## Overview

The inspection system provides:

## Creating an Inspection

### Custom Inspection

1. Click **New Inspection** → **Create Blank**.
2. Enter inspection details:
   - Name (required)
   - Description (optional)
   - Active status
3. Click **Create** to save.
4. Click on the inspection to add categories.

### From Template

1. Click **New Inspection** → **Create from Template**.
2. Browse available templates.
3. Select desired template.
4. Customize name if needed.
5. Click **Use Template**.

### Adding Categories

1. Click an inspection to open it.
2. Click **Add Category**.
3. Enter category name:
   - Example categories include:
      - Engine Compartment
      - Undercarriage
      - Interior
      - Exterior
4. Click **Add** button to save the category.

1. Select a category.
2. Click **Add Item**.
3. Configure the item:
   - Item name
   - Description
   - Required status toggle
   - Allow Comments toggle
   - Allow Photos toggle
   - Click **+ Select Input Type** to choose:
     - Four Way Toggle
     - Single Measurement (mm)
     - Single Measurement (inches)
     - Text Input
4. Save the item.

## Managing Inspections

### Editing Inspections

1. Click the edit icon or inspection card.
2. Navigate to the inspection editor.
3. Modify categories and items.
4. Changes save automatically.

#### Activating/Deactivating

- Toggle switch on the inspection card.
- Inactive inspections are unavailable for use.
- Preserves all configuration.

#### Deleting Inspections

1. Click the delete icon.
2. Confirm in the dialog.
3. **Note**: Check for usage first.

### Inspection Editor

#### Category Management

- Drag to reorder categories.
- Expand/collapse for focus.
- Bulk edit items.
- Delete unused categories.

#### Item Configuration

- Set measurement units.
- Define acceptable ranges.
- Add help text for technicians.
- Configure customer visibility.
